PATI PATNI AUR WOH (2019) Film Review
Another extravaganza of 100+ crores from the production houses of T-series i.e. Bhushan Kumar & Krishan Kumar and BR Studio i.e. Renu Ravi Chopra & Juno Chopra, Pati Patni aur Woh (2019) is a remake of comedy film Pati Patni aur Woh (1978). The film is based on the literary work of Kamleshwar, a Hindi writer who was awarded Padma Bhushan in 2005. The 1978 version was directed and produced by BR Chopra with Sanjeev Kumar, Vidya Sinha and Ranjeeta in lead roles. The 2019 version has Kartik Aryan, Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Pandey in lead roles. The film is directed by Mudassar Aziz of Happy Bhag Jayegi fame.
The film revolves around one husband and wife who love each other and are settled. After few years of marriage, boredom sets in. The routine life of husband gets a freshness in the form of woh- another woman. He starts impressing her with lies about his wife and starts lying with wife about his new ‘project’. Then ups and downs follow the script creating humour. Except some suggestive dialogues, the film is clean to be watched with family. Everyone has done a good job as far as acting is concerned. Ananya Pandey brings in the freshness in the life of the husband as well as in the film. Bhumi Pednekar as wife and Kartik Aryan as husband are too good.
The music score is set by many including Tanishk Bagchi, Rochak Kohli, Sachet–Parampara, Tony Kakkar and Lijo George – DJ Chetas. The song “dheeme-dheeme” has already ruled the charts in all musical countdowns.
The film’s budget was ₹34 crores which was covered in the first week itself. The film grossed more than ₹117 crores. The film is a comedy superhit and a must watch.
