Breathe: Into the Shadows- Web Series- Review

Yet another unsuccessful attempt of Abhishek Bachchan to up his career graph.

The web series at various channels are getting attention of late due to lockdown during COVID-19 pandemic. And here we get another season of BREATHE by Amazon. It’s available at Amazon Prime containing 12 episodes. Launched recently as the schedule for dubbing and editing suffered due to COVID-19. It has also been heard that Abhishek Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and their kid are found Corona Positive.
“BREATHE: Into the Shadows” has been released after a gap of more than 2 years from “BREATHE”. It stars Abhishek Bachchan in the lead role. Other major contributors are Amit Sadh of “kai po che” fame, Nithya Menen of “Mission Mangal” fame, Saiyami Kher of “Mirzya” fame and Plabita Borthakur of “Lipstick under my Burqa” fame.

Directed by Mayank Sharma, who earlier directed 1st season of BREATHE, this 1st season of “BREATHE: Into the Shadows” falls flat on almost all fronts. Though it has been marketed as Crime, Drama, Thriller but actually it falls short of even fifty percent of it. The script has a lot of loose ends. No justification given for many sequences. Most of the part is boring and without any content. A lot of movies and series are now being made on the basis of split personalities. A few days back it was “Rasbhari” and now it’s BREATHE Into the Shadows.
Amit Sadh as Inspector Kabir Sawant and Nithya Menen as Abha Sabharwal are the saving grace of the series. Plabita Borthakur as Meghna Verma brings some freshness into the scenes. Rest all the cast are just passe. For ten episodes the pace of the series is very slow. It seems that the series has been wind up in last two episodes and ends abruptly without any climax.
The director needs to tighten the screws in season2 which is inevitable as the season one ends with suspense. The lag between the scenes and the continuity of the story needs to be tackled to keep the viewers awake and connected to the screen.
It’s a waste of time to watch it.
