April Fool day is observed on 1st April every year throughout the world. On this day people make harmless pranks on other people and create humourous and cheerful moments which are then shared with others or on social media.
The exact origin of April Fool’s Day is not known. However, it is believed that during 16th century some people started using 1st January as the New Year Day and made pranks on the people celebrating other dates as new year. Subsequently, Gregorian Calendar was introduced by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582 in which the New Year starts with 1st January. This was an improved version of Julian Calander which was started on 1st January 709 AUC (Ab Urbe Condita) meaning “from the founding of the city” or 46 BC (Before Christ) meaning before the year of the Lord era (as AD means “in the year of the Lord”)
In earlier days the main prank was to give a sealed important letter to a person and ask him/ her to deliver to another. When he/ she delivers it to recipient and he/she opens it reads ” send the fool further” and the same prank continues till it is discover by him/her.
But now a days different kinds of pranks are played with people. Sometimes, even the newspapers or news channels also participate in these prank calls to cover a lot of people simultaneously. An activer and aware person has “April First Don’t Trust” attitude to save himself/herself from pranks. In any case whenever a prank is played it ends with shouting of “April Fool” to create laughter.
The victim understands it and take it lightly and enjoys it. But there may be someone who gets annoyed with the pranks and creates ruckus. It is better to avoid such persons or it may lead to sour relationships, fighting, ego problems etc. Moreover, the purpose of the April Fool’s Day is not to hurt anyone but enjoy the harmless pranks.
In the year 2021, the pranks are likely to be more innovative and aggressive. As a word of caution, kindly don’t hurt anyone while enjoying this day. Happy Pranking.
