Thappad (2020): Film Review | Rating |

Thappad, the movie, is based on the topic of domestic violence ranging from high class, middle class and lower class in our society. It gives a social message of No Physical Abuse of women by men and finding their own place in family and society by women. Apart from the message the film struggles to deliver anything else.

It was released on 28.02.2020 in theatres and now available on Amazon Prime. The film collected appx 44 crores against the budget of 34 crores. And since last week of March, India is in lockdown due to COVID-19.

Though the topic is real, the film is seems to have been settled in virtual world. The movie scenes are full of hypothetical situations. It touches the audience on emotional front in few scenes, but overall it doesn’t leave any impact. All actors justified their roles well especially the house maid Sunita played by Geetika Vidya Ohlyan. Other actors like Taapsee Pannu, Dia Mirza, Tanvi Azmi, Ratna Pathak Shah play their part well.

The film is directed by Anubhav Sinha after his stint with Mulk and Article 15. The film is produced jointly by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar and Anubhav Sinha. The film has been widely acclaimed by the movie fraternity for its subject. But the worst part is its pace. The film drags towards an expected end without any twists and turns.

The music scores are just apt to view during the movie only. There is nothing to remember nor any chance of listening to them at a later stage.

A one time watch for die hard fans of Taapsee Pannu or for those who can relate to the subject.
